Hi ladies and gents
As many of you know I have been playing in this PW since the start, actually I helped Ima play test before it even made it to server status. I haven't looked at the forums before as I prefer to be on line playing. Sorry just being honest, plus this is the first job I have had where they have internet access, sad but true.
Anyway rambling aside here is the intro.
Name: Scott
Born: Sydney Australia 1970
Lived: We moved around a lot (as you will see) So in Australia we went from Sydney to Townsville to Canberra to Geelong then moved to India then Pakistan, back to Australia where we lived in Sydney then Canberra then Queenscliffe then Canberra then moved to the United Kingdom - Guildford in Surrey, and then I moved back to Canberra.
First started playing Basic D&D in 1982 and continued playing for many years. Met Ima at University (College for our friends in the USA) playing AD&D in 1988.
Have been playing rpgs on the computer since 1984 Wizardry, Ultima etc and just continued playing. Loved it when first network games came out (Doom was the first we played) especially since you could play with your buddies. Have never really enjoyed player vs player. Have enjoyed pushing games to their limits and working out alternate ways of doing things, the stories Ima could tell of my game playing style. Ima and myself tend to push games pretty hard and try doing everything the engine will allow.
As for my handle of Fred Fredson. It all started with a high school computing teacher who was teaching us about using meaningful variable names, and drummed the importance of this into us, then would say what name shall I use for this variable "I know lets call it "Fred"". Obviously I could not be Fred that was her name, but I could be Fred Fredson son of Fred.
The handle of Clod Clodson came from playing Star Craft over the net with Ima (he was in Australia and I was in the UK), while I was waiting for Ima to log on someone commented about the name Fred Fredson, I explained and he said it was lame and said I should be called Clod Clodson instead. So I changed to Clod and this really pissed the guy off (I don't know why, he was the one who suggested it). Anyway Clod has stuck.
Other interests include sailing, more of a hobby than anything else. Also field hockey, I made it to the dizzy heights of first grade, never made state level though. I played Innebandy (floor ball) in the UK where I played for the UK team. I have played Broomball where I played at state level, I was invited to play for the Australian team when they went to Canada, but could not afford the airfare, so cannot claim to have played for Australia.
So while I am really a nerd I am a bit too sporty, I think I will have to give the sports up as they are ruining my reputation.
I am married, which is why I have to log off quickly sometimes, I usually play when my wife is out, which she doesn't mind. It is just when she is home we have agreed that we will spend time together, so I have to log off. So when I say my wife is home, I hope you will understand if I have to log off quickly. She is not an ogre, she is really nice, it is just the agreement we have, and I try to stick to it.
My other interest is Mini Minors (the car) I have owned a few and even owned a Moke for a while. Ima did not enjoy driving around in winter with the roof off, but since it did not have a roof there was not much I could do. Actually it was really funny driving it in winter at night, when we were on the motorways we would wrap ourselves up in blankets, towels, whatever happened to be in the back, you know the old granny old look with the blanket on your lap. Anyway when we got into town we would take it all off and hide it, acting as though the cold meant nothing to us. The things you do for vanity. Didn't get any chicks though, so I don't know if it was worth it. Had one of the latest BMW Mini's, a lot of fun, but the one we had was forever going back for warranty repairs so we sold it.
I work in administration, I seem to be good at using computers, I love it so much I use them when I get home as well *sigh*.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Scott, Fred, Clod, Wally or whatever you want to call me, as long as it is not late for dinner.
