Welcome to the "Forgotten Realms: Shattered Souls" Neverwinter Nights PW. I am Knightmare (aka Chris) and my partners-in-crime go by the online names Xaos and Ima Dufus. While I hail from central New York, USA (no, not New York City), Xaos is in sunny Florida and Ima resides in the Land Downunder (Australia).
Let me begin by saying that we are still in the construction stages of our PW right now. If you are looking to jump in on something already created, sorry, but this is not yet your place, though we are further along than these forums might indicate as most of our discussions are going on under the Development Team area of these forums. We are going to attempt to create the biggest and most rewarding PW in all of NWN. Our goal will be to simulate the PnP style of gaming the best we can, not necessarily in terms of game rules, but by wide ranges of Player/character chioces. The number of options will be huge for the players concerning races/classes/etc. While I definately have my limits, players will be free to come up with their dream character and see what happens. If you are interested in helping us continue our tremendous momentum and push it along it's way to going live, then we'll be more than happy to have you on the team.
Our game world is set in the Forgotten Realms world of Faerun and will be very much RP based, with some hack/slash and PvP areas thrown in for flavor. To begin with, we are starting out in the area known as the Lands of Intrigue*** which encompases the kingdoms/countries of Amn, Tethyr and Calimshan (expansions to other areas to follow). The reason this is where we decided to start is mostly due to the aptly named region itself. Intrigue is big here and wealth rules - though wealth is measured differently depending on where you stand. There are also things going on in the area that will lend itself to a great module in our opinion: Tethyr has recently come out of a civil war though bitterness still brews; Amn has recently lost two of it's major trade towns to Tethyr causing some international political strain; Amn has a huge presence in Maztica (another continent far to the west) and allows possible module expansion to those lands; a secret thieves guild known as the Shadow Thieves run all roguely activity in the area; Calimshan has been ruled for centuries by genie-kind; and perhaps the biggest thing going on in this area is the recent seige and capture of Amn's second largest port city of Murann by an army of goblinoids, giants and ogres, ruled by an ogre-mage. This exceptional ogre-mage (named Sythillis) dreams of establishing a goblin kingdom of his own in which he sits on the throne. He creatively calls his new kingdom the "Sythillisian Empire" and for now it only includes his capital (and only) city of Murann and it's surrounding lands. There are many other interesting things about the Lands of Intrigue too numerous to mention here.
The year our story begins is 1370 DR. This is about 2-3 years before D&D 3rd edition begins. We decided to start here because it leaves a few huge world events in the near future, namely (in no particular order): the release of the Phaerimm from imprisonment under The Great Desert Anauroch; the return of the Shades; the goblin invasion of Cormyr and the resulting death of King Azoun IV; the return of the dead god Bane; the recapture of Mithral Hall by the dwarves; and the scism in the Harper's network. Of course these are just a few examples of what's in store for our world, but all offer numerous and excellent RP experiences.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
I hope that you decide to stay on for the long haul and through to completion by joining our Development Team. By signing on you swear yourself to secrecy concerning all that is happening with this persistant world. If secrecy is too much for you concerning our plots and projects, well then ...
Again, welcome aboard and thanks for all your future work and dedication. It is greatly appreciated.
