We have updated some of the haks. You can find them here (along with the others) on the Vault: nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=hakpaks.Detail&id=5813Updated files: ss_tilesets1_v2, ss_base_v3, ss_images_v2, added ss_tilesets4_v1 These updated haks are not yet in use on the server, they will go into affect with the next mod update, set for Thursday or Friday. I'm just giving people some time to download them. The ss_images_v2 one may be useful now to those who have been having problems installing the original file - if the ss_images_v1 original file is working for you, you need not download this newer version.

We have discovered a bug in the haks. This mostly affects the server side, not the client. Due to such, the server will not be upgraded as planned at this time while we work it out. If you have the new hak versions, things should still be ok for you, though you may notice some things that seem "weird."
More info to come as we work on this situation.
If you do see something that looks wrong, still feel free to make a bug report about it as there may be other things our internal testing did not pick up on.

Are you talking about my problem KM? I see caves tile in Port Kir! (Port Kir: Main gates)... If yes, I keep these haks or I download other haks?

No, actually I'm talking about other problems, but yours will be added to the list of things to look into. EDIT: I looked into this. The reason is a difference in how the tiles are mapped between ss_tileset1 version 1 and 2. You can solve this either by reverting to using version 1 or waiting for me to update the server which will contain those fixes. But because of the mapping differences, I have to rebuild those sections.

I noticed the same thing in the middle of Mosstone in the game over the weekend.
The culprit is a tileset in the new HAKs that didn't bother renaming some of the models before changing them. So they are now overriding the proper ones.
You can "fix" the problem by changing the order of the HAKs so that ss_tilesets2.hak comes before ss_tilesets1.hak in the custom content list. This will make you use the old models again, which will fix the current areas - but obviously the tiles will now be wrong for the new tileset.
I can fix it easily enough by just renaming the modified tiles and putting them (and a matching set file) in the ss_base HAK. I'll get around to that as soon as possible (but it isn't the highest priority at the moment). In the meantime just change the HAK order.

TO ALL PLAYERS... March 28, 2006 I have updated the ss_base.hak and ss.tlk files again. They have been uploaded to the vault page, and can be downloaded from here: nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=hakpaks.Detail&id=5813It is important you update these two files on your computer as soon as possible. It was necessary to make some changes to a tileset as part of the changeover to Velen as the main town, and without the update East Velen may cause your client to crash. Sorry for any inconvenience.

i have a question. Is there some other way to download these haks faster than by normal means I guess what I am getting at is, isn't there a way to download these files through an FTP site or something like that at least with some mirrors I only am asking because that now that I am stuck with dial-up for now that I would like to d/l them faster and figured that even with a faster connection it would be easier to use, at least for some of the experienced users of it. Just checking.

I can download stuff from the vault at far faster than modem speeds, so I doubt that is holding you back. But the basic question is: are your downloads happening at the maxiumum speed of your modem or not? If they are then there is nothing we can do to make this faster. If they aren't, then we might be able to find a faster host.

i think it's mostly due to the ISP that I am dealing with (people PC) than when I had NetZero. PeoplePC uses a lot of filters and firewalls to connect to the 'net. I have my modem maxed out, but am not currently running a firewall other than what's through the ISP. I guess I will have to see about doing some automatic d/l 's during the night or so. But thanks for the info. I might see about changing my ISP and at least get a faster connection speed.
