This was an idea I came up with when my LG Paladin turned into a CE Paladin thanks to the deck of many things. I think it would be cool to have some quests that can be used to redeem certain character classes that depend on alignment (namely Paladin and Clerics) for leveling up and RPing purposes. Just a thought, but when the server goes public, these quests should only be done once to represent that few gods should give second chances over such things (but a DM could run another should something extreme happen). Thats about it, as far as ideas, I can think of some if you need any.

Thats pretty neat actually, although I personally think that a DM should be present even if its a scripted quest. Alignment shifts are a touchy subject.
Anyway, how can a deck of cards shift your alignment? I don't really get how that works even realistically (taking in consideration that its a magical world) Does it just change your opinions?

"When you play with fire, occasionally you get burnt."
The Deck is an item of powerful magic. It can do many things, depending on what card you draw from the Deck. Some cards are beneficial, many are malicious, and some are totally useless.
The card in question forces dark (ie. evil) energy into the person drawing the card, permanently changing their world view (alignment).
As a side note, did you know that there's a whole host of items out there only useable by chaoticly aligned paladins?

Really? Hmm havn't seen any of those out there, I will have to go treasure hunting. But Im not complaining about the deck and what happened. I understand what the card did, its just that I have never played a character that is CE. From my view point I think I would just kill everything in sight, even in town. But you guys don't allow PK's, so I just try to avoid town so I won't be compelled to kill people, such as NPC's. But yeah, I just thought the redemption could help those like myself in this clutch, wether my character would do the quest is entirely different, but it could help other people.

There will be certain things that you can accomplish that will change your alignment for better or worse (beyond drawing cards from the Deck). Perhaps we can put in some special "attonement" quests that don't award gold or XP, but that award "goodness" to your alignment. A CE character is not a mindless killing machine, they just favor Chaos over Law and Evil over Good. They break the rules and don't really care who gets hurt in doing so. Going around slaying the population of a town is just a good way to end up dead, even a CE character can usually understand that...

The DM item has the ability to change a players alignment (although I think it might still modify the whole parties alignment if you are in a group - shouldn't do, but I don't think it is working properly). So if you want to do a quest like this try to set it up with a DM.
That's funny, if you go by the alignment descriptions in the old 1st edition DMG, the reverse is pretty much the case. In those descriptions Lawful Good characters are basically intolerant of anything different, and would most likely kill entire villages of people if they don't hold with the same religious and moral views as their own. On the other hand Chaotic Evil characters don't really give a toss about what other people do, as long as they don't try to mess with the character (sorta "live and let live"). So CE characters aren't any more "mindless killing machines" than LG ones are. Only truly insane serial-killer types would do that, so unless you consider all CE characters to be insane...
Of course if you have been changed from LG to CE by a malicious magical item, I guess you could play it as if you had gone insane ;D
Reminds me of a fun bit in Orlando Furioso where the paladin Orlando loses his wits (because of a woman of course), and he has to find them again to "regain his composure". He eventually finds them in a jar on the moon, which is where all lost things end up.
