Just a quick note that one day we will have some bulletion boards around the place that PCs can use to leave notices on. And possibly a newspaper, and maybe even some town criers.

Just a quick note that one day we will have some bulletion boards around the place that PCs can use to leave notices on. And possibly a newspaper, and maybe even some town criers. I loved that newspaper thing. I'll try sticking it in my module when next I get a chance and see how it ticks (and how well it ticks.) I'll probably edit the text strings to make it more relevant to our region and stuff (while keeping them generic) and upload it to FolderShare to see if people like it.

Thanks Sammi.
When you put the module up, could you PM me with a very brief rundown of how the persistency works (ie. what databases it uses, and how). Unless it is really complex, in which case I will take a look myself (to save you having to type it all up).

I was just going to put up the edited files from the default ones. I am no expert in persistancy and I don't know entirely how you have this world set up for that, so I was thinking I might just do what will probably be my standard modus operandi for this world: do the work and the thinking and get stuff put together and posted on Foldershare and let you and Knightmare (and soon Xaos, when he sets it up on his computer,) who have both had first-hand experience with the entire module from a setting-up perspective, do the actual installing of the work. I could probably figure it out easily enough, it's just that databases aren't my speciality and I'd rather not presume to guess how you're doing it (I could totally miss and actually make your job harder.) There's a reason why you're an administrator and me a lowly developer. Besides, I'm a very tactile person. Maybe if you explained it to me, I could figure something out, but I would only really get it if I was able to take some other scripts direct from the module dealing with persistancy apart and see what they do and how they do it. Usually, I'd be glad to do something like that, but a combination of my recent ordeal with trying to make a program in a programming language I don't know (Python) work on an operating system I'm not too familiar with (Mac OS X) and the fact that I am really trying to keep my brain from dying due to too much figuring out of code so that I can get a job, I really don't have the time or energy to do any dissections of code right now.

That's OK, I understand. I was only asking because I have an alternate method for storing bunches of strings and such which I think is a bit better than what most people use. So I will probably convert it over to use this method. I'll probably make it use our conversation system too, so I don't know how much of the original will be left I'm actually working on guild-related things at the moment, one of which is a bulletin board system. Given that a newspaper is basically the same deal (just with a different means of activation), I will probably basically create one in the process. So I wouldn't bother with the one on the vault if it looks like it could take a lot of time.

The Red Dragon Clan is now accepting applicants to join this guild. If you want to be apart of this "EVIL" (evil character) Guild, either post here or PM me.
Thanks, Waristinad
