We have a bunch of new material to add to the current mod. We hope to have this new version up online by the end of this week. At that time, the beta server will open fully to all players who wish to check it out. Also, I will post the DM password in the DM section of these forums for those who do not yet know what it is. We have slated for this update: - a new Images hak (that will hopefully solve many previous problems) - updated death system along with a first look at the City of Judgement (for those unlucky enough to do so) - expanded script systems - new town of Port Kir - addition of The Guardians and Academy Arcanum player guildhalls - assorted fixes in response to submitted Bug Reports (thank you everybody) I encourage all DMs and players to maybe spend this next week trying to hook up with times to meet each other online.

Just wanted to let everybody know that we are pushing back the mod update until Monday or Tuesday. The reason for this is the new 1.66 NWN update just released and we will need time to update a few things ourselves.
It is not yet necessary, but when the update comes, you will need to have your own game updated to the new patch in order to log in to the server.
Also, in slightly related news, Xaos is currently building a new computer with a dual mobo/CPU that we will use to host the mod. This server host should be much more stable than the one we are currently using. We hope to have the new server up and running in a week or two. More info to follow as it becomes available.
Perhaps Xaos can provide some better system statistics or a better timeline when he reads this?

I am figuring on a worst case scenario:
middle of July
Hopefully much sooner, but I'm waiting for all the parts. Then I have to assemble...
Never messed with liquid cooling before so I have to figure it out...

Will the temporary server continue to run until the new server is assembled? I believe that it is currently down.

Will the temporary server continue to run until the new server is assembled? I believe that it is currently down. Yes, unfortunately, VictorDC is still having problems. I think I may take control of the server and just host it myself. My computer is crappy and I use it for a lot of other stuff, but I do have a decent cable connection and it will be a lot more stable (probably 95% chance server would be up and running). Give me just a short while to get the server vault files from VictorDC and set things up. Perhaps I can limp the server by until Xaos gets himself set up with what will be our actual server host computer.

OK everybody, I have taken over the server for the time being and it should be up and running at this point. I also have all of your server vault characters so hopefully you did not lose anything. My connection is very stable so the server should keep running. The only reason it may be down is either for a reset or the off chance that I had a power outage - quite possible as we've been having some incredible thunder/lightning storms around here lately. Outages are very quick, just long enough to shut down my computer and reset our clocks. If I'm not at work, then I will be able to get the server back up fairly quick in these cases. Server Info: - Direct Connect: 65.33.216.53:5121 - No player password, PM Knightmare for DM password (but it has not changed if you know it already) - Also can be found under "PW Story" called "Shattered Souls DEMO" If you have any problems, please let me know. I have updated haks on my computer compared to almost all the rest of you, so some minor things may be changed though we have not officially updated the mod at this point. Also, I have updated my game to the new 1.66 BioWare patch, not sure if you will need to do so as well in order to connect. I hope the lag is not to bad... *EDIT* Slight update, Xaos was able to log in to the server and says it's stable and lag free for the time being (of course it was just him online at the time). Hopefully all the prgrams i have running in the background won't lag me out too much.

OK, the good news is that after pulling an all-nighter I finished the latest HAK updates at about 2pm this afternoon The bad news is that when I quickly tested a few random areas I found the toolset was crashing all over the place. Upon examination I found that there were four blank lines in the area wizard list where some tileset names should be My first thought was that the tileset limit was a bit more limiting than Bioware had let on. However, a fortuitous post on the vaults front page today may hold the answer... It seems that resource IDs in HAKs (and ERFs, and MODs) only use 14 bits for the within-file index. That means they can't hold more than 16384 files. The HAK I made had over 22,000 files. Oops. I'll break the HAK into two pieces tonight and hopefully it will solve the problem. I'll also have to take a look at some of the others, since I think they are dangerously close to that limit. On the plus side, Bioware just released some of the content from the Pirates of the Sword Coast module, including supposedly some more tilesets. So the extra day will give me the chance to maybe include some of those goodies. I'll also take the extra time to cut down on the total number of tilesets by combining some, overwriting others, and eliminating at least one redundant one. I apologize to everybody for all the extra delays, but as the saying goes, **it happens.

I apologize to everybody for all the extra delays, but as the saying goes, **it happens. No need. Compared to the rest of us, you are like a god. Gods needn't apologize for the wait because nobody else can do it better.

Thanks for the kind words. I just hope everybody is as understanding. I also hope that the builders (and after a bit the players) like the new toys they will be getting

Oh! I love toys! I just sat around messing with the toolset for a while after I got the CEP. I haven't yet done too too much with the Shattered Souls haks, mostly because I haven't had the time yet to do anything beyond messing with erfs. No erfs in the haks, so I haven't gotten a chance to do that much. I might get a chance tomorrow.

The server has been updated with some additional areas. Not everything I had planned made it into this update, so please bear with me. Feel free to explore the new places though.

I have installed a temporary fix so that you are able to sell your unwanted items to the various merchants. I tested this on the server as a PC myself and it worked fine for me. Please let me know if you have any problems with this.

This is the first time that I have played NWN with a DM. And I must say, this is the most fun I have had playing NWN. Excellent work so far Dolomel!!!

Yes, Dolomel has been doing a very nice job (yes I been keeping tabs on you there Dolomel ). It would be nice to see some of you other DMs logging on and doing some stuff (besides just stand there and/or follow the PCs around).
